Green Light Your Travels

Traveling green involves more than just buying Hybrid cars. To actually travel green, perhaps its best to not travel at all, but in recognition of the fact that most lives cannot be lived fully without walking distance of one’s own home, the need to get from point A to B must be addressed in the most eco-friendly way possible. Follow these basic guidelines when away from home to make sure your trip makes as many memories as possible while still leaving a relatively small carbon footprint.Consolidate Like perhaps the most environmentally conscious traveler of all time, Noah, it is important to pair up whenever possible, whether boarding an arc or standard 4-door automobile. Though this includes carpooling as we know it, it extends well beyond the bounds of cars and daily commutes. Whenever traveling with a large group of people, it is far more sound to charter a bus or all book one flight as compared to booking accommodations separately, ultimately reducing the strain additional trips would place on the environment.Stay Together A basic survival technique of animals in the wild can go a long way towards the survival of our planet. Stay together as in literally stay in the same hotel or at least side of town whenever venturing to a new city. This will reduce the need for taxis and rental cars back and forth not to mention save a little in terms of expenses as well. Also, try to coordinate group trips to sight-seeing destinations and or nightlife spots so as not to unnecessarily duplicate the need for transportation.Walk When Possible What better way to see a new city than on foot? Obviously, it is important to research ahead of time where it is and isn’t safe to walk so as to not put one’s self in harm’s way, but a pleasant stroll can add to an already scenic sight-seeing experience.Leave No Paper Trail If online booking, check-in or similarly paperless services are readily available by all means use them. In many instances you may also be able to carry confirmation information with just a code or via a PDA device. This can eliminate the need for printing, preventing the waste of paper.
